KING CITY — On Saturday, June 23, the King City and San Ardo Boxing Clubs will host a boxing show at the King City High School Gym.

Boxing Clubs from San Jose, San Francisco, Hayward, Modesto, Stockton, Fresno, Santa Maria, Watsonville, and Salinas will be sending young boxers to compete in the event.

‘The last time we hosted a boxing show at King City High School was about ten years ago,” said San Ardo and King City Boxing Club coach Rodolfo Tapia. “We did host a show maybe eight years ago at the Fairgrounds but we felt this was a good time to put on a boxing show at King City High School. We will have young kids competing, high school aged kids, and some adults. There will be many exciting fights for the beginners and the more experienced boxers. I expect us to have about 20 fights but we will determine who will fight on the day of the show.”

The two host clubs have been working hard to prepare for the upcoming show and trained at the their respective sites in San Ardo and King City and had training runs in the San Ardo Hills.

Boxing on the 23rd from the San Ardo Boxing Club are Kevin Pena at 132; Alvaro Pantoja at 160; Marlen Arreola at 132, and Miguel Hernandez at 52 pounds.

Boxing from the King City Boxing Club are Ivan Almanza at 60 pounds; Julio Martinez at 105; Marco Lopez at 138; and Jesus Hernandez at 180.

Tickets for the event can be purchased from club members or can be paid for on the day of the event.
