Hill is new reporter

Posted: Wednesday, Nov 28th, 2012

Aaron Crutchfield/South County Newspapers - Brock Hill has joined South County Newspapers as its newest reporter.

GREENFIELD — The new reporter for South County Newspapers has a long history in the area.

Brock Hill, 26, is the new reporter for Greenfield and, for the time being, King City. He moved to Greenfield at the age of 10, leaving for a few years to go to school in Rhode Island. Meanwhile, Hill’s family has longstanding ties to the area, as his father, Joel, and all of his uncles were born in King City.

“My grandparents, Les and Betty Hill, ran the Salinas Valley Fairgrounds for more than 10 years, and after that, they managed Greenfield Oak Park and the Greenfield cemeteries for more than 35 years,” Hill said. “My dad was an agriculture inspector for seven years with Monterey County and the California Department of Food and Agriculture. I helped with the Monterey County Fair a couple times when I was a teenager, in the ag building, since my dad was an ag inspector.”
