SOUTH COUNTY — Within about an hour of each other, both Palm Avenue at 11th Street in Greenfield and the 200 block of 3rd Street in Soledad were the scenes of shootings last Tuesday.
On Nov. 13 at about 7:26 p.m., Greenfield Police officers say they heard five or six gunshots while on patrol near Palm, and officers were immediately flagged down by a 29-year-old male victim.
Officers said preliminary investigation revealed that the victim was walking Southbound on 11th street when a passenger – sitting in a parked white sedan – exited the vehicle on the right front passenger side and began to shoot at him.
The victim fell on the ground as the vehicle sped off.
The victim suffered from wounds to his left thigh and left shoulder. The victim was known to have been associated with local gangs in the past, but there is no evidence indicating he is currently an active gang member.
