Veterans Day celebrated Sunday

KING CITY — A joint effort with Fort Hunter Liggett and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 6747 and Auxiliary and the public were invited to celebrate Veterans Day. It was held at the VFW Hall at 599 Bitterwater Road.

The meeting was at 10 a.m., and it was 11 a.m. when Bob Lockwood, commander of the Sgt. Frank Lillard Post 6747, welcomed the group and he gave attendees a little history about their post, formed in 1945 and chartered in 1946, right after the men got home from war. Sandy Lockwood is president of the Ladies Auxiliary Post 6747, which was formed only two years ago and has been very active helping soldiers and families both home and abroad.

A prayer was offered by Chaplain Spencer. Bob Lockwood introduced their guest speaker, Colonel Donna R. Williams.
