Estela Hinojosa, 75, of Soledad passed away peacefully at Kindred Nursing Pacific Coast in Salinas, Sunday, November 11, 2012.
Mrs. Hinojosa was born January 13, 1937 in Nuevo Leon, Mexico. She married in March of 1956, moved to Weslaco, Texas and would eventually settle in Monterey County in the early 1960s.
She greatly enjoyed cooking, gardening, spending time with family and friends, and going to flea markets and yard sales.
She is survived by her husband, Alvaro Hinojosa of Soledad; three children, Aumaldo (Martha) Hinojosa of Watsonville, Armida (Gabriel) Flores of Soledad, Daniel (Regina Urquidez) Hinojosa of Morgan Hill; four grandchildren, R. J. Hinojosa, Teresa Flores, Angelica Florez, and Ruby Flores.
Five great-grandchildren, Johnathan, Joshua, Jacob, Jazlyn, and Jazelle; two brothers, Rene Franco of Texas, Guadalupe Franco of Texas; six sisters, Hilaria Ramos of Texas, Ofelia Hinojosa of Texas, Elida Salinas of Texas, Margarita Melchor of Soledad, Olga Rios of Soledad, Maria Luisa Franco of Texas. She was precedd in death by her sister, Olivia Franco Sifuentes.
Visitation is Wednesday, November 14, 2012 from 2 to 7 p.m. at Woodyard Funeral Home, 395 East Street, Soledad. A rosary is scheduled for November 14 at 7 p.m. at Woodyard Funeral Home. A funeral Mass will take place Thursday, November 15 at 10 a.m. at Our Lady of Solitude Catholic Church.
