KING CITY — Eighth-grade students from Chalone Peaks Middle School took part in the school’s Civil War reenactment last Friday, a tradition which has been going on for 13 years. The reenactment at San Lorenzo Park saw students taking part in the First Battle of Bull Run (First Manassas) and Pickett’s Charge, and setting up camp the day before.

Chalone Peaks Middle School history teacher Milton Hambly explained how excited the students are to participate in the Civil War reenactment each year.

“Every year the little kids say, ‘I want to do that.’ Then they get into eighth grade and one of the first things they as is ‘We’re doing the reenactment, right?’” said Hambly. “It’s a tradition at Chalone Peaks.”
