High-tech training comes to Fort Hunter Liggett

FORT HUNTER LIGGETT The future of Army training is taking place inside a warehouse-like building on the grounds of Fort Hunter Liggett.

The United States Army has been rolling out the Dismounted Soldier Training System since 2011, and one such setup went live a few weeks ago at Hunter Liggett.

The system puts soldiers in the middle of a virtual world, allowing them to experience any environment desired. During a media availability day last week, four soldiers got together to enter a compound in Afghanistan, clear the compound, and extract a high-value target.
