KING CITY — Bringing Girls Inc.’s successful mentoring and leadership program to King City has long been a vision of many community members. At a February informational meeting on the Community Foundation for Monterey County’s Women’s Fund, increasing leadership opportunities for girls was discussed.

Several community members present asked what it would take to bring Girls Inc. to King City. Julie Drezner, CFMC Vice President of Grants and Programs, contacted King City High School principal Janet Sanchez Matos and brought Girls Inc. Executive Director Patty Fernandez King City to speak with supporters about how they could make the dream a reality. CFMC Board member Tina Lopez and community member Paulette Bumbalough volunteered to put together a plan to raise the necessary funding.
