KING CITY — A chase that reached 120 miles per hour and went for 51 miles ended at Highway 101 and Teague Avenue and resulted in the arrest of a juvenile.
The incident began on Feb. 22 at about 11:28 p.m. when Monterey County Sheriff’s Department deputies attempted to pull over a silver Toyota RAV4 for blowing through a red light in Castroville, according to a release. The driver didn’t stop, instead fleeing through Castroville, and then reaching speeds of 120 mph on Highway 183 toward Salinas.
In Salinas, the driver got onto Highway 101 southbound and again reached speeds of more than 120 mph.
A spike strip was deployed near Highway 101 and Teague Avenue near Greenfield. The vehicle came to a stop and the suspect was taken into custody.
