George Scarborough

George “Carroll” Scarborough, a resident of Springdale, Ark., was born August 19, 1941, in Green Forest, Ark., a son of John and Lettie (Taylor) Scarborough. He departed this life Tuesday, January 22, 2013 in Fayetteville, at the age of 71 years.

Carroll proudly served in the United States Air Force during peacetime. He was an avid Harley-Davidson fan. He worked in law enforcement as a correctional officer for many years.

Carroll is survived by three sons, Mitch and wife Josephine Scarborough of Berryville, Ark.; Brent Scarborough of Springdale, Ark.; Travis and wife Gina Scarborough of Lisbon, Portugal; one brother, Oris and wife Carol Scarborough of Oak Grove, Ark.; one sister, Annie Gochenaur of Lampe, Mo.; six grandchildren and five great grandchildren; former wife, Carolyn Tucker of Manteca, Calif.; several other relatives and a host of friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, and one sister.

Visitation was Thursday, January 24, 2013 at the Charles M. Nelson Memorial Chapel. Funeral service was Friday, January 25, 2013 at the Charles M. Nelson Memorial Chapel with Pastor Derryl DeShields officiating. Interment will be at the Ward Cemetery under the direction of Nelson Funeral Service.
