Hugo A. Scattini, 82, of Greenfield passed away Monday, December 31, 2012. Hugo was born in Salinas June 8, 1930. He grew up on the family farm in Greenfield and has been farming in Greenfield for over 60 years. He loved farming.
He was a parishioner of Holy Trinity Catholic Church. He was a member of the Salinas Elks, a founding member of the Salinas Valley Independent Growers, board member of the Greenfield Fire Protection District for over 40 years, board member of the Greenfield Public Recreation District for over 30 years. He was a member of the Beet Growers Association and a Salinas Valley Fair Valley Heritage Foundation member.
Hugo is survived by his wife, Theresa Scattini; nephews, Michael J. (Vickie) Griva, Jon Scattini; nieces, Catherine O’Brien, Paula Parola; sister-in-laws, Jo Scattini, Flo Griva; Great nephews, Peter Griva, Timothy O’Brien, Joseph O’Brien, Jeffery Parola, Jonathan Parola; great nieces, Ashley Hallock, Nichole Griva, Rebecca Griva, Rachael Pali, Ann Parola, Julie Parola, Melissa Scrafini, Stephanie Gonzalez, Mary Lynn Osteraa, Victoria Scattini, Jessica Scattini and Lindsay Mount.
A visitation was held Sunday, January 6, 2013, at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Greenfield. A Rosary service followed at Holy Trinity Catholic Church. A funeral Mass was celebrated Monday, January 7, 2013 at Holy Trinity Catholic Church. Hugo was laid to rest following the mass at Holy Trinity Cemetery, Greenfield.
