Samuel G. Torres (Sammy), 77, formerly of King City, passed away in Sacramento. He was born March 13, 1935 in Robstown, Texas. He entered Godís Heavenly Kingdom on December 21, 2012.
Sammy came to King City in 1959. He worked for Tony Soresí Shell gas station, then worked as a truck driver (Coca-Cola Company in south Texas) for Maggioís and then Meyer Tomatoes for many years until his retirement.
Sammy is survived by his children, Sam B. Torres, Jr., Patricia B. Torres, Leticia B. Torres Paree and Michael E. Torres, all of Corpus Christi, Texas; siblings, Lupe (Frank) Padilla of King City, Joe Torres, Jr., Raul (Velma) Torres, Beatrice (Emilio) Flores, Ramiro (aura) Torres, all of Texas; seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. His family includes cousins, numerous nieces and nephews, beloved aunts Angelita T. Tamez and Francisca R. Torres, and many friends.
Sammy will be deeply missed because he touched countless people with his laughter and very sociable nature. He lived life to the fullest!
He was preceded in death by his son, Henry Torres, and his parents.
A memorial mass will be held Saturday, February 2, 2013, at St. Johnís the Baptist Catholic Church, 504 North 3rd Street, King City, at 1 p.m.
His place of rest will be in Corpus Christi, Texas.
