Marines help Santa on visit to San Ardo

Brock Hill/South County Newspapers - Local Marines came to San Ardo along with Santa Claus to deliver presents to the local children in what has become an annual tradition.

SAN ARDO — On Friday, Dec. 14, Santa Claus visited San Ardo Elementary School, with the assistance of the Marine Corps League, Monterey Bay Detachment 711. It was the 12th year in a row that Detachment 711 has done the event.

The San Ardo Elementary School auditorium was filled with students of all ages from kindergarten to eighth grade. The walls of the auditorium were lined with posters in appreciation of the Marines that helped make the event possible. Large colorful presents lay at either end of the stage. The Marine Corps League, Monterey Bay Detachment 711 flag stood in the middle of the stage, in front of large drawn curtains.
