Shirley Rae Gillis, 76, of King City passed away Sunday, November 25, 2012 at Mee Memorial Hospital. Shirley was born December 23, 1935 in Sanger to Paul and Anne Griffith.
She graduated from Sanger High School in 1954. Shirley married the love of her life, Gene Gillis, in 1955.
Shirley moved to King City in 1968 with her husband, Gene, and children. Shirley worked several years at Sprouse Reitz and later at South Monterey County Medical Group in the insurance and billing department. Gene and Shirley retired in 1980 and traveled in their fifth-wheel trailer through most of the lower 48 states. They returned to King City to settle down in 1997.
Shirley was preceded in death by her husband, Gene Gillis, and her grandchildren, Andrea and Robbie Davis. Shirley is survived by sisters, Betty Alvarado and Pauline Smith (Richard); and brothers, Sonny and Bud Griffith. She is also survived by daughters, Cindy Davis of Snohomish, Wash., Penny Moskwa of Puyallup, Wash., and Vickie Gillis Imbimbo (Mark) of Everett, Wash.; and son, Mike (Tammie) Gillis, of King City.
Shirley also leaves behind grandchildren, Tim and Randy Davis, Snohomish, Wash., Michele, Amanda and Mason Moskwa of Puyallup, Wash., Paul Gillis of King City, Catherine Gillis of Alexandria, Va., and Brian Stone of Everett, Wash.
No formal services are scheduled; however, there will be a remembrance of Shirley’s life at a later date. Donations can be made in Shirley’s memory to the American Cancer Society and the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.
