Nancy B. Williams, 83, of Soledad, passed away peacefully at Salinas Valley Memorial Hospital, Saturday, January 19, 2013.
Nancy was born July 27, 1929, in Henrietta, Okla., and had been a resident of Monterey County since 1964. She was a lifelong schoolteacher, having taught at Main Street Elementary, San Vicente Elementary, and Gabilan Elementary, all in Soledad. She was an active member of Soledad Methodist Church, where she sang in the choir and played the piano. She taught Sunday School and was a tutor to many children over the years. She enjoyed gardening, camping, the outdoors, swimming, and attending the local air show. Nancy was a volunteer for the Salvation Army, American Legion, and the Veterans of Foreign Wars.
She is survived by her extended family, the Romero Family; she was especially fond of Tommy Tapia; many friends and students from all over the Salinas Valley. She was preceded in death by her parents, Lewis and Grace Williams; brother, Lewis G. “L.G.” Williams, in 2002.
Memorial contributions in Nancy’s name may be made to the American Diabetes Association.
A memorial service was held January 25, 2013, at Woodyard Funeral Home. Inurnment was at Soledad District Cemetery.
