Irma Pincini, formerly of Gonzales, was born on May 4, 1916 in Moghegno, Ticino, Switzerland, one of seven children of Luigi and Agnese Leoni. She served as a nurse in the Swiss army during World War II and married Albert Pincini from the same town in 1945. They immigrated to the U.S. in October 1949 with their children Carla and Sandro, settling first in the Salinas Valley, and then moving to Marin County in 1951, where they lived in Fairfax for the next six decades.
After suffering a debilitating stroke in 2003, Irma was moved to Rafael Convalescent Hospital, where she was kindly cared for by Abe Jacob and his staff. Her beloved husband died in September 2004, and she survived all her Swiss siblings.
She is greatly missed by her three children, Sandro (Robin) and son Joseph, Carla Twitchell (Doug) and their children Sarah, Mark, and Lauren Nunes (James) and son Ty, and Mary Wells and daughter Katy.
A private graveside service is planned. Donations in her memory may be made to the Swiss Benevolent Society of San Francisco, 456 Montgomery St., Suite 1500, San Francisco, CA 94104.
