Helen Blomquist Pura, 95, of Soledad, passed away peacefully at home, Thursday, January 10, 2013.
Helen was born October 15, 1917, in Salinas to Leon Blomquist and Anna Hansen, and had been a lifelong resident of Monterey County. She was a graduate of Salinas High School and married the love of her life, Jacob H. Pura. She was one of 13 children. Helen enjoyed reading and spending time with family and friends.
She is survived by her daughter, Cynthia Pura of Soledad; brother, Walter (Gloria) Blomquist of Gonzales; two sisters, Anna Twisselmann of Gonzales and Gloria (Herb) Chadwell of Watsonville; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jacob H. Pura, in 2000; infant son, Douglas, in 1952; five sisters, Mildred Silacci, Dorothy Sgheiza, Nina Mathiesen, Alma Henry, and Margaret Henry; four brothers, Harold, Art, Ray, and Henry Blomquist.
Memorial contributions in Helenís name may be made on oneís favorite charity.
