KING CITY — When a community comes together for a collective goal, there is a lot that can be said about that community. The goal of resurfacing and cleaning up the King City High School stadium brought about various alumni from King City High School’s historic past.

The King City community donated $35,000 to the restoration of the track, and numerous man-hours were spent cleaning and restoring the stadium.

As a way to illustrate their appreciation for the community’s and alumni’s support, KCHS held the first Community Appreciation Night on Oct. 26.

“As you know, we are over 100 years old,” said KCHS principal Janet Sanchez-Matos, “and therefore have many alumni and many traditions.”

The Community Appreciation event was held to commemorate all those who helped with the stadium project. Sanchez-Matos said about those who were being commemorated, “It just so happens that every recipient this evening is alumni of King City High School.”

At the Community Appreciation Night, eight people were recognized for their volunteer efforts in the stadium project.
