KING CITY - The community is reacting and a hospital has had to make changes after Dr. Leopold J. Graupera, 65, was found dead in his home this past Monday. He resided in the Laguna Seca area. The cause of death had not been announced at press time.
Graupera had been the Mee Memorial Hospital Chief of Staff since November of 2010. A 1978 graduate of Hahnemann University, he practiced obstetrics and gynecology at Mee and its connected clinics. A practicing board certified physician of more than 30 years, Graupera moved to the area 17 years ago from Philadelphia. "Our thoughts and prayers go out to his family, friends and peers," said Mee Memorial CEO Lex Smith. "He was a great friend to the hospital administration, employees and a very kind considerate caring physician." He added, "This is very unfortunate, very unexpected. He will be greatly missed by everyone at the hospital."
