KING CITY — Residents of King City packed the King City Council Chambers for a public hearing on upcoming water rate hikes, despite the meeting taking place at 2 p.m. on a Monday.
The hearing was part of the legal process for California Water Service Company to raise rates. CWS has requested a 38.3-percent increase in 2014, the first of three years of requested increases. The Division of Ratepayer Advocates, part of the California Public Utilities Commission, has recommended a 20.4-percent increase.
